I am a Certified Yoga Instructor, Licensed Massage Therapist, and Fiber Artist. My days are filled with fiber work, either muscle fibers (body work), fibers of being (yoga and meditation) , or textile fibers (art quilts, spinning, and weaving).
I have enjoyed yoga in some form of practice in all of my adult life. And I can safely say it changed everything.
My first certification was earned in 1975. I taught Hatha Yoga in the tradition of Swami Vishnudevananda and his teacher Swami Sivianada. I later studied with Alice Christinsen in Cleveland, Ohio at the American Yoga Society and participated in her teacher training in Sarasota, Florida.
My other teachers have included over the years Edie Heintz, Swami Rama, Swami Muktananda, Angela Nicolosi, Cathy Morse, Georgina Clark, Roy Eugene Davis, Cindy Lee, and Ram Das.
Over the years, my Hatha classes have evolved to a more Vinyasa flow. But as I get older and my students age with me, I see a need for a class that brings both the flow element into a longer holding of asanas. So I bring both elements to my classes depending on the population of each individual class.
I like to bring humor to my classes. And to see my students grow in their practice. New students are encouraged to take it easy at first and find their own pace. Students who have been practicing awhile are encouraged to go deeper.
